Great connections were made at Technology Industry Days on January 25, 2017 with a record-breaking turnout of over 900 students and alumni along with 30 employers! Check out the photos on BCITSA’s Facebook page.
Technology Industry Days is a win-win situation for everyone. You get to develop employer contacts, build your professional network, and potentially increase your chance of getting a job and employers get to learn more about you and potentially fill open positions.
One student shared that she was amazed at how nice, friendly, and helpful the employers who attended were. One employer offered to connect her with mentors in the company while another said they would strongly consider her for a position that wasn’t even posted!
This is just one of many stories and successes from Technology Industry Days which highlights the importance of career fairs and networking. Many students stated that they found the career fair prepared them for and helped them in their job search.
The employers themselves remarked that students this year seemed more prepared as they not only brought their resume but they introduced themselves well and did research into the companies.
If you’ve been contacted for an interview or need help with your job search, you can book a one-to-one appointment with a career specialist on Career Track as well as RSVP for in-person career workshops and online workshops. Resources are also available on the BCITSA Career Services website.
To get notified about upcoming networking opportunities such as Industry Connections, make sure you opt-in on Career Track to receive notifications.
Thank you to everyone that attended!
